When I saw the 2.5 mile marker, I was in a conundrum. I was on pace for a 27-28 minute finish, my best ever but I'd promised my daughter that we were doing this together so I slowed and walked until she caught up. With about 75 yards remaining, the finish line was in sight and she was still walking. I told her that no matter what, she had to run the final 25 yards so that her finishing photo was of her actually running and she encouraged me to go ahead and said that she would run. I took off, finishing just seconds ahead receiving high fives from members of the Michigan State University Women's Basketball team and turned around just in time to see her finish.
